The launch of this website left a couple of people asking what the NinthBall is, or what it stands for. Before coming up with a company name, one of the questions posed to a couple of people was, “Which name should be chosen?” By then, the potential names had been narrowed down to two options (all the others just didn’t quite seem appealing). The choice winner in the selection process became Ninth Ball – thus, creating curious questions:

“What is NinthBall?”

“No one knows what NinthBall means…”

“I hear NinthBall, and I think of the game of pool”, etc.

The Ninth Ball

The NinthBall concept is best understood by looking at the logo (work in progress). From the image, the NinthBall logo depicts a box with eight edges and eight vertices, that looks like a cuboid. Each vertex has a faint-colored ball connecting the edges together to form the 3-dimensional box – the faint-colored balls are a total of eight. They are all the same bland color, all similar, and share a similar relationship. The last ball in the depiction, the ninth ball, is higher in contrast, and is separated. It is not part of the box. This ball is a lot bigger than faint balls, and also a different color from them.

As such, the ninth ball is reflective of an entity in a space, area, vicinity, and/or region, that stands apart from others like itself. It shares its basic properties with the others but has a superior intrinsic value.

The Concept

The ninth ball is different

The ninth ball is unique

The ninth ball stands out and is removed from the crowd; it does not believe in herd mentality and may be termed the “odd ball out”, yet, it is clearly the “leader of the pack”.

Where all the other balls are rigid and come together to conform to the confines of a box, the ninth ball is “outside the box” in principle, values, views, beliefs, opinions, and practice.

It is positive, more colorful and more cheerful than the others.

It is big and bold, and sure of itself.

Be The Ninth Ball

Based on this simple concept, everyone should aspire to be the ninth ball in their career, industry, or various walks of life. Hardwork, discipline, innovation, patience, a positive outlook, and accountability are stepping stones to this goal. Each organization should also aspire to be the ninth ball. Hopefully this way we each find relevance, and contribute to the greater good of the system we are within.
